We’ve made a number of exciting updates to our imaging data platform over the past few months. Read on to learn the latest, including updates to adjudication workflows.
Adjudication Tasks
Now, as part of our Reader Study workflow module, you can automatically trigger image adjudication tasks within Flywheel. When enabled, adjudication triggers a protocol configured for double-read adjudication. Once two linked reads are completed, Flywheel sends an adjudication task to an assigned adjudicator or assigned staffing pool.
Adjudication tasks are also designed to be completed while maintaining efficiency — when there are no disagreements between readers, the adjudicator can quickly complete the task without having to open the viewer by simply clicking “No Adjudication Needed.”
This update supports more consistent and traceable review processes, helping researchers create more accurate reads within Flywheel.
DICOM Router
Flywheel can now directly receive imaging data from scanners and PACS systems through standard DICOM workflows. It does this through a cloud-based DICOM receiver that scanners and PACS can automatically push to — securely — without the need to deploy or maintain any connectors.
Because it’s built on Flywheel’s standard import pipeline, this feature includes conflict handling, restart/retry, de-identification upon ingest and the ability to create full audit trails. And it can support multiple devices simultaneously pushing data to Flywheel.
This creates a faster pipeline from remote data ingest to de-identification, standardization and analysis, saving crucial time for teams collecting DICOM data from devices or conducting field research. To enable DICOM Reader, create a support ticket with Flywheel.
Viewer Update
Flywheel has released the latest version of its built-in viewer based on the OHIF viewer. Among the improvements are an update to the measurement panel that makes it easier to compare results created by different users.
Data Management
Session templates now check regex pattern fields before saving, helping users catch formatting issues earlier. We’ve also expanded integration capabilities for extension applications across the Flywheel platform.
Python SDK Updates
Flywheel offers a number of ways to customize your deployment, from developing custom Gears to defining your own reader forms. One way you can truly define your own Flywheel experience is with our software development kit (SDK), which allows users to automate workflows and run containerized analysis pipelines using Python scripts and notebooks.
Newly refreshed documentation makes the Python SDK easier to learn and adopt, especially for clinical workflows. The SDK supports Python versions from 3.10 and on.
